SQL, Linux and Testing Exam

What they ask

For test and support engineering roles, a written technical exam comes first, followed by interviews with the managers. The exam covers three areas:

• SQL: joins, GROUP BY with HAVING, subqueries, and a query such as "list customers who have more than one active line and their total monthly charge".
• Linux: everyday commands (grep, tail -f on a log, ps and kill, chmod and permissions, df and du), plus reading a simple shell command and saying what it prints.
• Testing basics: test case design for a login screen, boundary values, equivalence classes, regression vs smoke vs sanity, and the difference between severity and priority in a bug report.

The manager interviews afterwards are mostly about your experience, availability and how you approach a flaky test.

What they look for

• Correct SQL on paper, including the difference between WHERE and HAVING.
• Comfort with a terminal; candidates who had only used GUIs struggled here.
• Structured test thinking: a short table of inputs and expected outputs is exactly what they want.
