What they ask
The HR round (and the phone screen before it) is straightforward: tell me about yourself, why do you want to work with us, what is your expected salary, and then a real negotiation on the number rather than a vague "we will get back to you". Candidates describe the whole process, screen to offer, as taking only a few days.
Typical wording:
- Walk me through your background in two minutes.
- Why this group rather than a product company or a startup?
- What is your current package and what are you expecting?
- If we are below that, what would make the offer still work for you?
- When can you start?
What they look for
- A self introduction that connects your experience to the role you applied for, not a CV read-out.
- A salary expectation with a range and a reason behind it. They negotiate on the spot, so know your floor before the call.
- Awareness of what the group does (IT services, contact centres, distribution, and more) and which unit you are interviewing for.
- Availability, since teams are often staffing a client project with a start date already fixed.
