Supply Chain Case Rounds

Accenture interview question (Egypt) · stage: Onsite · domain: Business & Ops · role: Commercial / Operations · difficulty: Medium · asked once, last in December 2024
What they ask
For consulting roles in the Cairo office the process is three rounds, each one built around a case you work through live with the interviewer. A round lasts about an hour or less depending on the case, and the interviewer spends a good part of it probing how your background maps to the role.
A representative case: a consumer goods distributor in Egypt is seeing stock-outs in Upper Egypt while its main Cairo warehouse is overstocked. The client wants to know why and what to do in the next quarter.
Expected flow:
- Clarify: which SKUs, how demand is forecast, how replenishment is triggered, lead times from Cairo to the regional depots.
- Structure: demand side (forecast accuracy, seasonality), supply side (safety stock, reorder points, transport frequency), process side (who approves transfers, data visibility).
- Quantify: with the numbers the interviewer gives you (for example, weekly demand and lead time), compute a rough safety stock or reorder point and sanity check it.
- Recommend: two or three levers with owners, quick wins first, and what you would measure.
What they look for
- A clear structure stated up front, then followed.
- Comfort with simple arithmetic out loud and a habit of checking units.
- Practical recommendations that fit an Egyptian distribution reality (road transport, cash cycles, regional depots), not a textbook answer.
- Fit: be ready to explain how your past work or studies prepare you for client work in this domain.
