What they ask
The phone screen and the video interview for the Young Professionals Program are not technical. They are checking that you know what you applied for. Three questions come up almost verbatim:
What do you know about the Young Professionals Program?
What is SAP?
What is the role of an SAP consultant?
Plus the usual: your degree (engineering, computer science, MIS, or business), when you graduated, whether you are currently employed, whether you can commit full time for the program length, and confirmation you live in or around Cairo.
What they look for
- A plain-language answer to "what is SAP": enterprise software that runs a company's core processes (finance, supply chain, HR, sales) on one integrated system, built by a German company and delivered with partners.
- A realistic picture of consulting: understanding a client's business process, configuring the system to match it, testing, training users, and living with the go-live. Not "coding all day".
- Knowing the program specifics: it is free, full time, a few months long, leads to associate certifications, and the goal is placement with SAP partners and customers in Egypt.
- Motivation that survives a hard question: why this instead of a graduate developer job.
- Fluent, confident English, since the interviewer may not be in Egypt.
Read the program page and one job posting for a junior functional consultant before the call. That covers most of it.
